GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University women's swimming team dropped their season opener against Mount St. Mary's, 130-75, on Saturday afternoon. Against a tough Division one foe, the Falcons still impressed in the pool on the afternoon. The Falcons earned 13 top three finishes on the afternoon and were led by two gold medals from
Madelyn Frey. The Falcons added a second and third place finish in the two relay races.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Chester, Pa. for a triple-dual meet against Widener University, Hood College, and King's College on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
How It Happened
The Falcons opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of
Grace Schad,
Lauren Cotton,
Erin Goudie, and
Kylie Wilkinson touched the wall second with a time of 4:10.02.
Keelie Conaway opened the individual races with a silver medal in the 1650 free with a time of 19:25.37. Conaway also added a third-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:45.50.
In the next event,
Kylie Wilkinson earned the silver in the 200 free with a time of 2:04.08. Wilkinson added another silver medal in the 500 free with a time of 5:35.69.
The Falcons continued to finish in the top three with
Kendal Wilson touching the wall third in the 50 free with a time of 26.28
The Falcons had a couple of strong races in the 200 IM and the 100 breast.
Madelyn Frey finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.84 and
Lauren Cotton finished in third with a time of 2:24.00. Frey and Cotton both finished first and third in the 100 breast with Frey swimming a time of 1:11.83 and Cotton swimming a time of 1:13.86.
The Falcons continued to have strong finished in the pool. In the 100 fly,
Erin Goudie finished second with a time of 1:02.78 and
Lauren Mock finished third with a time of 1:07.18.
In the next event,
Grace Schad finished with a bronze in the 100 free with a time of 56.86. Schad added a silver medal in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.86.
The Falcons finished off the meet with a bronze medal in the 200 free. The team of
Hailey Fegan,
Makayla Yellets,
Kendal Wilson, and
Lauren Mock touched the wall third with a time of 1:48.52.
