Women’s Swimming Flies Past Arcadia

GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University women's swimming team defeated the Knights of Arcadia University, 136-67. The Falcons finished with 20 top three finishes with seven gold medals. The Falcons finished first and second in the 200 medley relay and finished second and third in the 200 free relay.
 
Up next, the Falcons host the River Hawks of Susquehanna University on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 12:00 p.m.

How It Happened
The Falcons opened the dual with a first and second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Grace Schad, Lauren Cotton, Erin Goudie, and Kylie Wilkinson earned the gold with a time of 1:54.59. The team of Maddy Price, Madelyn Frey, Lexi Lovern, and Lauren Mock finished in second with a time of 1:58.59.
 
Messiah opened the individual races with a gold and silver medal in the 1000 free. Samantha Pennell finished first with a time of 11:32.53 and Keelie Conaway finished second with a time of 11:32.57. Conaway also added a gold medal in the 500 free with a time of 5:42.27.
 
In the next race, the Falcons earned a first and third-place finish in the 200 free. Kylie Wilkinson touched the wall first with a time of 2:03.20 and Mattie Brummer earned the bronze with a time of 2:10.08.
 
The Falcons added a third-place finish in the 50 free with Kendal Wilson finishing in third with a time of 25.98. Wilson added a bronze in the 100 free with a time of 57.29.
 
In the 200 IM, the Falcons earned the sweep with racers in the top three positions. Lauren Cotton finished in first with a time of 2:22.68, Lexi Lovern earned the silver with a time of 2:24.71, and Maddy Price touched the wall third with a time of 2:27.00. Cotton also added a gold medal in the 200 breast with a time of 2:34.24 and Lovern also finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:34.34. Price added a second-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:20.26.
 
In the next next, the Falcons earned the gold and bronze in the 200 fly. Grace Schad finished in first with a time of 2:19.05 and Makayla Yellets touched the wall third with a time of 2:31.44. Schad also earned the gold in the 200 back.
 
Madelyn Frey added a silver in the 100 free with a time of 57.11. Frey also finished third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:36.35.
 
The Falcons also added a second-place finish in the 500 free and a bronze in the 200 back. Lauren Mock earned the silver in the 500 free with a time of 5:43.68. Ava Smith touched the wall third in the 200 back with a time of 2:32.91.
 
The Falcons finished the dual with a second and third-place finish in the 200 free relay. The team of Kari Mindrebo, Kendal Wilson, Kylie Wilkinson, and Erin Goudie finished in second with a time of 1:44.94. The team of Mattie Brummer, Samantha Pennell, Hailey Fegan, and Makayla Yellets earned the bronze with a time of 1:50.66.
