Women’s Swim Cruises Past Susquehanna

GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Messiah University women's swimming team cruised to a 133-71 win over the River Hawks of Susquehanna University. The Falcons finished with 16 top three finishes, with six gold medals. The Falcons added wins in the 400 medley relay and the 400 free relay.
 
Up next, the Falcons travel to Scranton, Pa. to take part in the three-day Electric City Invitational that starts on Friday, Nov. 22.

How It Happened
The Falcons opened the dual strong with a first and second-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Grace Schad, Lauren Cotton, Erin Goudie, and Lauren Mock touched the wall first with a time of 4:13.88. The team of Kendal Wilson, Makayla Yellets, Lexi Lovern, and Maddy Price earned the silver with a time of 4:27.18.
 
The Falcons started the individual events with a gold medal from Keelie Conaway in the 1000 free with a time of 11:37.39.
 
In the next event, Kari Mindrebo earned a second-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:05.42. Mindrebo also added a silver in the 500 free with a time of  5:41.78
 
In the next event, the Falcons earned both the gold and the silver medal in the 50 free. Madelyn Frey touched the wall first with a time of 25.95 and Lauren Mock finished second with a time of 26.42. Frey also added a second-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 57.40 and in the 100 breast with a time of 1:11.52.
 
The Falcons then swept the 400 IM. Samantha Pennell finished first with a time of 5:00.53, Lauren Cottom touched the wall second with a time of 5:03.06, and Maddy Price earned the bronze with a time of 5:03.51. Cotton also added a gold in the 100 breast with a time of 1:11.03. Price added a second-place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:05.99 and Pennell.
 
The Falcons had another strong race in the next event. The Falcons earned the gold and silver in the 100 fly with Erin Goudie touching the wall first with a time of 1:02.59 and Kendal Wilson finished second with a time of 1:06.01.
 
Grace Schad also added a gold medal in the 100 back with a time of 1:03.43.
 
The Falcons capped off the dual with a first and third-place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of Kendal Wilson, Erin Goudie, Lauren Mock, and Grace Schad finished in first with a time of 3:50.93. The team of Hailey Fegan, Mattie Brummer, Makayla Yellets, and Kari Mindrebo earned the bronze with a time of 4:05.09.
