Men’s Swim Finishes Seventh in MAC Championships

YORK, Pa. – The Messiah University men's swimming team finished in seventh place in the 2024 MAC Championships with 601 points. The Falcons earned their first top-three finish in the MAC Championships with PJ Cronauer earning a silver medal in the 1650 free. The Falcons finished the MAC Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 400 free relay by the team of Sage Sobek, Dylan Yellets, PJ Cronauer, and Aedan Wilkinson.

Sunday, Feb. 18 Update
The Falcons started the final day of the MAC Championships with a silver medal in the 1650 free by PJ Cronauer with a time of 16:35.15.
 
The Falcons had two swimmers qualify for the second finals races with Sage Sobek placing 13th with a time of 48.76 and Aedan Wilkinson finished 16th with a time of 49.09.
 
Messiah also added a 19th place finish from Connor Fleming in the 200 back with a time of 2:09.30.
 
The Falcons had two qualifiers for the finals in the 200 breast. Nathan Book qualified for the second finals race and finished 13th with a time of 2:18.28. Will Russell qualified for the third finals race and finished in 19th place with a time of 2:22.27.
 
The Falcons ended the MAC Championships strong with a fifth-place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of Sage Sobek, Dylan Yellets, PJ Cronauer, and Aedan Wilkinson finished with a time of 3:13.45. The second team of Ben Clarke, Connor Fleming, Will Russell, and Nathan Book came in 19th with a time 3:26.60.

Saturday, Feb. 17 Update
After day three of the MAC Championships the Messiah University men's swim team held its seventh place spot in the standings with 460 total points. The Falcons were led by a fourth-place finish in the 200 fly by Dylan Yellets. The 800 free relay team of Logan Radell, Ben Clarke, PJ Cronauer, and Sage Sobek finished in sixth to end the third day of competition.

The Falcons opened day three of the MAC Championships with a fourth-place finish in the 200 fly from Dylan Yellets with a time of 1:57.75. Ben Clarke finished in 19th with a time of 2:08.00.
 
Connor Fleming added a 15th place finish in the 100 back with a time of 57.59.
 
In the 100 breast, the Falcons two swimmer qualify for final races with Nathan Book finishing in 13th place with a time of 1:01.42 and Will Russell finishing in 23rd place with a time of 1:05.97.
 
In the 800 free relay, the team of Logan Radell, Ben Clarke, PJ Cronauer, and Sage Sobek finished in sixth with a time of 7:20.93.

Friday, Feb. 17 Update
After day two of the MAC Championships on Friday evening, the Messiah University men's swim team held steady in seventh place with 352 points. The men's team trail Hood College by just half a point for sixth place. The Falcons were led by a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay by Nathan Book, Aedan Wilkinson, PJ Cronauer, and Sage Sobek. In the individual races, Sage Sobek and PJ Cronauer each finished in the top-five to lead the Falcons.

The Falcons opened day two of the MAC Championships with a fifth-place finish in the 200 free relay. The team of Nathan Book, Aedan Wilkinson, PJ Cronauer, and Sage Sobek finished in fifth with a time of 1:28.60. The second team of Logan Radell, Will Russell, Connor Fleming, and Dylan Yellets finished in 17th place with a time of 1:34.14.
 
In the first individual event of day two, Dylan Yellets and Will Russell qualified for the second finals group in the 400 IM. Yellets finished in 10th place with a time of 4:26.18 and Russell finished in 14th with a time of 4:34.80.
 
In the 100 fly, Aedan Wilkinson finished sixth with a time of 51.98. Wilkinson shaved a second off his preliminary race time (52.67) to have a better finish in the finals race.
 
Messiah had an impressive 200 free race with two Falcons qualifying for the top final race. Sage Sobek finished in fourth with a time of 1:44.91 and PJ Cronauer finished in fifth with a time of 1:45.25.
 
The Falcons finished day two with an eighth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Dylan Yellets, Nathan Book, Aedan Wilkinson, and PJ Cronauer came in eighth with a time of 3:35.32. The second Messiah 400 medley relay team of Connor Fleming, Will Russell, Ben Clarke, and Logan Radell finished in 15th with a time of 3:53.21.

Thursday, Feb. 15 Update
The Messiah University men's swim team competed in day one of the MAC Championships and are currently in seventh place with 117 points. The Falcons was led by a fourth-place finish from PJ Cronauer in the 500 free. Messiah finished day one strong with a seventh-place finish in the 200 medley relay with the team of Dylan Yellets, Nathan Book, Aedan Wilkinson, and Sage Sobek finishing with a time of 1:38.18. Stevens leads the MAC Championships with 325 team points.

The Falcons opened day one with the 500 free. PJ Cronauer led the Falcons with a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:47.02. Logan Radall also made the finals and finished in 21st place with a time of 5:07.91.
 
After earning a spot in the second final group, Dylan Yellets finished in 14th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.63.
 
The Falcons had two swimmers qualify for finals races in the 50 free. Aedan Wilkinson finished in 12th place with a time of 21.91. Sage Sobek also added a 24th place finish with a time of 22.86.
 
The Falcons finished day one with a seventh-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Dylan Yellets, Nathan Book, Aedan Wilkinson, and Sage Sobek finished in seventh with a time of 1:38.18. The second Messiah team of Connor Fleming, Will Russell, Ben Clarke, and Logan Radell finished in 19th place with a time of 1:46.46.
