GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University men's swim team split their final meet against Albright College and Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons dominated the Lions, 154-35 and fell to the Cougars 154-105. The Falcons finished with 11 top-three finishes with three goal medals.
PJ Cronauer finished first in both the 500 free and the 1000 free to lead the Falcons.
Up next, the Falcons get a week off before competing in the MAC Championships that take place from Thursday Feb. 15- Sunday Feb. 18 in York, Pa. at the Graham Aquatic Center.
How it Happened
The Falcons opened the meet strong with a gold medal finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Dylan Yellets,
Nathan Book,
Aedan Wilkinson, and
Sage Sobek touched the wall first with a time of 1:41.37, that just beat out the second-place team from Misericordia by .09 seconds.
The Falcons opened the individual events strong with a first-place finish in the 1000 free from
PJ Cronauer with a time of 10:17.74. Cronauer also finished first in the 500 free with a time of 4:59.58.
The Falcons continued to have a strong start with a gold medal in the 200 free by
Sage Sobek with a time of 1:47.90.
In the next event,
Dylan Yellets finished second in the 100 back with a time of 58.54.
The Falcons continued to finish in the top-three with a second-place finish in the 100 breast by
Nathan Book with a time of 1:03.59. Book also finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:26.16.
Ben Clarke also added a second-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:16.26.
In the next event,
Aedan Wilkinson finished third in the 50 free with a time of 22.35. Wilkinson had an impressive day by also finishing second in the 100 free and the 100 fly. He finished the 100 free with a time of 49.78 and the 100 fly with a time of 54.28.
Connor Fleming added a third-place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.13.
The Falcons ended the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of
Ben Clarke,
PJ Cronauer,
Logan Radell, and
Sage Sobek finished second with a time of 3:25.41.
