GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah University women's swim team cruised to a sweep in the final double-dual meet of the season over Albright College and Misericordia University. The Falcons dominated the Lions 194-36 and the Cougars 146-116. The Falcons finished with 19 top-three finishes with six gold medals on the afternoon.
Grace Schad led the Falcons with wins in the 100 back and the 200 back.
Up next, the Falcons get a week off before competing in the MAC Championships that take place from Thursday Feb. 15- Sunday Feb. 18 in York, Pa. at the Graham Aquatic Center.
How It Happened
The Falcons opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Maddy Price,
Evangeline Soerens,
Lexi Lovern, and
Kendal Wilson finished second with a time of 1:57.11.
The Falcons opened the individual event strong with a first-place finish in the 1000 free from
Kylie Wilkinson with a time of 11:25.73.
The Falcons then had a strong race in the 200 free with a second and third-place finish.
Marie Hagemaster finished second with a time of 2:02.90 and
Lauren Mock finished third with a time of 2:05.99. Hagemaster also finished third in the 100 free with a time of 55.71.
In the next event, the Falcons claimed another gold medal with
Grace Schad touching the wall first in the 100 back with a time of 59.53. Schad also finished first in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.68.
The Falcons had another great race in the 100 breast with a second and third-place finish.
Abigail Soerens finished second with a time of 1:09.65 and
Lauren Cotton finished third with a time of 1:10.47.
Erin Goudie added another gold medal for the Falcons in the 200 fly with a time of 2:17.37. Goudie also finished in second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.76.
Kendal Wilson added a third-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.25. Wilson also finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:40.27.
Maddy Price finished in second in the 200 back with a time of 2:19.16.
The Falcons had a great 200 breast with a first and third-place finish.
Evangeline Soerens finished in first with a time of 2:24.33 and
Lexi Lovern finished in third with a time of 2:33.99. Soerens also finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 5:01.07.
Sophie Schulze finished in second in the 500 free with a time of 5:34.82.
Caitlin Ross added a third-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 1:06.13.
Samantha Pennell finished the individual events strong with a gold medal in the 400 IM with a time of 4:59.04.
The Falcons finished the meet strong with a first and third place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of
