GRANTHAM, Pa. – The third-ranked Messiah University men's soccer team fell to the fourteenth-ranked Red Devils of Dickinson College, 2-1 after a stunning goal in the 90th minute,. After a scoreless first half, the Falcons got the offense going in the 50th minute with a goal from
Josh Bratager to take a 1-0 lead. The Red Devils answered back with a tying goal in the 59th minute off a corner kick. After saving a couple of Falcons' chances on offense, the Red Devils scored a game-winning goal with 21 seconds remaining to put the final score at 2-1. The game was the first loss at Shoemaker Field in regulation since Nov. 4, 2017.

First Half
Dickinson got most of offensive opportunities in the first half.
Adam Carter made three big saves in the first half to keep the game tied. The Falcons defense also blocked a couple of Dickinson shots kept the Red Devils off the board. The Falcons took three shots and earned four penalty kicks but got no shots on goal.
Second Half
The Falcons looked to take control of the game in the 50th minute. After a
Jarec Morlote pass to
Patrick Lee, Lee sent the ball towards the right corner to
Kyle Spodnik. Spodnik crossed the ball into the ball and the ball found the foot of
Josh Bratager who ripped a shot that bounced off a Dickinson defense and into the bottom-left corner to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Red Devils then looked to counter off the Messiah goal in the 59th minute. After an amazing diving save from
Adam Carter, the Red Devils earned a corner kick. The kick was sent into the box and after a scrum for the ball right in front of the goal, a Dickinson forward tapped the ball into the net to tie the game. The Falcons earned a couple of chances late with a shot from both
Patrick Lee and
Isaac Schmitke, but each chance was saved by the Red Devils' goalkeeper. The Red Devils though went on the attack with less than a minute remaining. The Red Devils sent a cross into the box and the ball found a Dickinson forward, who tapped the ball into the back of the net for the game-winner.
Stats
Josh Bratager scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Messiah totaled 10 shots with three shots on goal. Dickinson tallied 19 shots with eight shots on goal. Both teams earned five corners.
Adam Carter started in goal for the Falcons and made six saves.
