DALLAS, Pa. – On Friday evening, the Messiah University women's swimming team dropped a close dual against the Cougars of Misericordia University 103-102. The Falcons finished third in the first relay and ended the meet with a second-place finish in the final relay. In the individual races, the Falcons finished 15 top three finishes, with five gold medals.
Lauren Edge and
Madelyn Frey each led the Falcons with two gold medals each.
Grace Schad also added a first-place finish.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Frederick, Md. for a quad meet against Hood College, King's College (Pa.), and Widener University on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 p.m.
How It Happened
The Falcons opened the dual with a third-place finish in the 200 free medley relay. The team of
Maddy Price,
Makayla Yellets,
Abby Caltrider, and
Kylie Wilkinson finished in third with a time of 2:01.46.
The Falcons opened the individual races with a first and third place finish in the 1000 free.
Lauren Edge earned the gold with a time of 11:09.91 and
Keelie Conaway finished in third with a time of 11:58.57. Edge added another gold in the 500 free with a time of 5:28.76 and Conaway earned a third place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:54.70.
The Falcons then earned a second and third place finish in the 200 free.
Kari Mindrebo earned the silver with a time of 2:04.03 and
Kylie Wilkinson touched the wall third with a time of 2:07.07. Mindrebo also earned a silver in the 100 free with a time of 57.57 and Wilkinson touched the wall third in the 100 free with a time of 59.07.
Grace Schad earned a silver medal in the 50 free with a time of 26.00. Schad also added a gold in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.40.
The Falcons earned another first and third place finish, this time in the 200 IM.
Madelyn Frey touched the wall first with a time of 2:20.20 and
Maddy Price finished in third with a time of 2:27.47. Frey also added a first place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 1:10.06.
Meredith Westcott finished in third in the 100 back with a time of 1:06.12.
Lexi Lovern also earned the bronze in the 100 breast with a time of 1:15.59.
The Falcons capped off the dual with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of
Kari Mindrebo,
Madelyn Frey,
Lauren Edge, and
Grace Schad touched the wall second with a time of 3:47.45.
