Grantham, Pa. – On Friday evening, the Messiah University women's swimming team defeated the River Hawks of Susquehanna University, 147-113. The Falcons started the meet with a first and third-place finish in the 200 medley relay and ended the meet with a gold and bronze in the 400 free relay. The Falcons finished with 18 top three finishes, with six gold medals.
Madelyn Frey and
Kari Mindrebo both led the Falcons with two gold medals each.
Grace Schad and
Rachel Sobkowiak each added a first-place.
Up next, the Falcons head to York, Pa. for the three-day Spartan Splash Invitational starting on Friday, Nov. 21.
How It Happened
The Falcons opened the dual strong with a first and third place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Grace Schad,
Madelyn Frey,
Rachel Sobkowiak, and
Kendal Wilson earned the gold with a time of 1:54.62. The team of
Maddy Price,
Lexi Lovern,
Makayla Yellets, and
Abby Caltrider touched the wall third with a time of 2:02.77.
The Falcons opened the individual races with a third-place finish in the 1000 free.
Keelie Conaway touched the wall third with a time of 11:47.05. Conaway also earned a silver in the 200 fly with a time of 2:33.67 and a bronze in the 500 free with a time of 5:52.45.
In the next event, the Falcons earned a gold and a silver in the 200 free.
Kari Mindrebo touched the wall first with a time of 2:02.18 and
Grace Schad finished second with a time of 2:04.76. Mindrebo added a silver in the 50 free with a time of 26.67 and a gold in the 100 free with a time of 57.65. Schad finished also finished first in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.87 and touched the wall second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:18.22.
The Falcons then added a third-place finish in the 100 back.
Meredith Westcott finished in third with a time of 1:07.59. Westcott added a silver in the 200 back with a time of 2:20.42.
Lexi Lovern added a bronze in the 100 breast with a time of 1:14.53. Lovern also touched the wall third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:41.69.
In the 200 fly,
Abby Caltrider finished in third with a time of 2:43.82.
The Falcons earned the gold in the 50 free with
Rachel Sobkowiak touching the wall first with a time of 26.32. Sobkowiak also earned the silver in the 100 fly with a time of 1:04.95.
Madelyn Frey earned the gold in the 200 breast with a time of 2:37.00. Frey also touched the wall first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.47.
The Falcons closed the dual with a first and third place finish in the 400 free. The team of
