GETTYSBURG, Pa. - On Friday evening, the Messiah University women's swimming team competed in session one of the Gettysburg Invitational. The Falcons are in sixth place with 87 points after session one. The Falcons trails Shippensburg by 29 points for fifth place.
Up next, the Falcons compete in day two of the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 6 with session two at 9:30 a.m. The final session will take place tomorrow as well at 5:30 p.m.
How It Happened
The Falcons opened session one of the Gettysburg Invitational with a seventh-place finish in the 200 free relay. The team of
Lauren Edge,
Rachel Sobkowiak,
Kari Mindrebo, and
Madelyn Frey finished in seventh with a time of 1:41.13.
In the first individual race,
Keelie Conaway had the top finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:39.47.
In the 200 IM
Samantha Pennell finished as the top swimmer for the Falcons, finishing with a time of 2:24.15.
Lauren Edge earned an eighth-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 24.60. The Falcons added three more top 20 finishes with
Grace Schad touching the wall 11th with a time of 24.86,
Madelyn Frey finishing in 13th with a time of 25.14, and
Kari Mindrebo coming in 20th with a time of 25.65.
The Falcons capped off session one with an eighth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of
Grace Schad,
Madelyn Frey,
Abby Caltrider, and
Kari Mindrebo finished in eighth with a time of 4:08.22.
