GETTYSBURG, Pa. – On Saturday, the Messiah University women's swimming team finished sessions two and three in the final day of the Gettysburg Invitational. The Falcons finished the two-day invitational in sixth place with 314 total points. The Falcons earned two medals on the weekend, with
Grace Schad earning a bronze in the 100 back and the 400 free relay team capped off the invitational with a third-place finish.
Up next, the Falcons enjoy a break before competing in their next dual against the Red Devils of Dickinson College on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11:00 a.m.
How It Happened
Session Two
The Falcons opened session two of the Gettysburg Invitational with a seventh-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Grace Schad,
Madelyn Frey,
Abby Caltrider, and
Lauren Edge finished in seventh with a time of 1:52.10.
In the first individual race of session two, the Falcons earned four top 15 finishes.
Maddy Price touched the wall 11th (5:01.68),
Lexi Lovern finished in 13th (5:05.11),
Samantha Pennell finished in 14th (5:10.81), and
Makayla Yellets came in 15th (5:22.32).
In the 100 fly,
Abby Caltrider finished as the top swimmer for the Falcons with a time of 1:04.90.
Elizabeth Chorba swam a top 20 finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.89.
In the next race, The Falcons swam three top 15 finishes.
Madelyn Frey led the Falcons with a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:09.72.
Lexi Lovern finish in 12th with a time of 1:12.73 and
Makayla Yellets came in 14th place with a time of 1:14.96.
The Falcons earned their first medal of the invitational in the 100 back.
Grace Schad earned the bronze with a time of 59.77. The Falcons added two other top 20 finishes with
Kari Mindrebo finishing in fifth with a time of 1:00.37 and
Maddy Price came in 17th with a time of 1:05.66.
The Falcons capped off session two with a sixth-place finish in the 800 free relay. The team of
Kendal Wilson,
Kari Mindrebo,
Lauren Edge, and
Grace Schad touched the wall sixth with a time of 8:14.06.
Session Three
In the first event of session three,
Lauren Edge led the Falcons with a 10th place finish in the 1650 free with a time of 18:41.57. The Falcons added two more top 15 finishes with
Keelie Conaway coming in 14th place (19:12.06) and
Samantha Pennell finishing in 15th place (19:42.68).
In the 100 free,
Grace Schad touched the wall sixth with a time of 54.36.
Kari Mindrebo also earned an 11th place finish with a time of 55.50.
In the next event, the Falcons swam three top 20 finishes.
Madelyn Frey touched the wall 11th with a time of 2:34.51,
Lexi Lovern finished in 12th with a time of 2:34.88, and
Makayla Yellets came in 19th with a time of 2:42.20.
