YORK, Pa. – The Messiah Men's Track and Field team was in action for Day One of the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday afternoon hosted by York College. Action for the weekend began with the Decathlon, 10000 Meter Run, 4x800 Meter Relay, Pole Vault, and Hammer Throw. Fifteen Falcons were in action for Day One.
Field action for the Falcons started with the Pole Vault and Hammer Throw. Joshua Karyea was the lone Falcon in the Pole Vault, clearing a height of 3.87 meters.
A trio of Falcons took to the circle for the Hammer Throw on Thursday afternoon. Senior
Hoyt Lechthaler earned the bronze medal with a toss of 52.88 meters.
Ted Lechthaler finished with a distance of 39.46 meters while
Jake Holland finished with a mark of 31.40 meters.
The 4x800 Meter Relay team of
Sean Baxter,
Evan Sarkett,
Kaleb Kabakjian, and
John Condon combined for an event winning time of 7:41.00. Baxter opened the race with a 1:57.93 before Sarkett and Kabakjian ran 1:56.12 and 1:55.29 respectively. The Falcons held a one second lead over Lebanon Valley before
John Condon ran a 1:51.68 anchor leg to earn the win by a margin of four seconds. The time of 7:41.00 sets a new MAC Meet Record.
A quartet of Falcons toed the line in the 10000 Meter Run with
Louka Fetter leading the pack with a fourth place finish. Fetter crossed the line in a time of 31:57.52.
Kyle Costello was the next Falcon to cross the line, finishing with a time of 33:46.24.
Lance Kauffman and
Ryan Klemick rounded out the Messiah squad with times of 35:18.19 and 35:43.30 respectively.
Decathlon Day One
Three Falcons were in action for the first day of the Decathlon with senior
Gavin Dunkerton leading the way. Dunkerton accumulated 3243 points through the first five events, holding the top spot in the field of 13. In the 100 Meter Dash, Dunkerton crossed the line in a time of 11.77 before jumping a distance of 5.61 meters in the Long Jump. He then threw a mark of 12.44 meters in the Shot Put before clearing a height of 1.86 meters in the High Jump. Dunkerton finished day one with a 51.87 in the 400 Meter Dash to accumulate 3243 points.
Jed Colyer ended day one of the Decathlon with a score of 2676 points. He opened his day with an 11.99 100 Meter Dash and a 5.42 meter mark in the Long Jump. Colyer then threw a mark of 10.57 meters in the Shot Put and cleared a height of 1.59 meters. Colyer ended his day with a 55.45 in the 400 Meter Dash.
The final Falcon in the Decathlon is
Drew Lebo. Lebo began his day with an 11.86 in the 100 Meter Dash and a 5.82 meter jump in the Long Jump. He threw a distance of 9.47 meters in Shot Put before clearing a height of 1.53 meters. Lebo crossed the line of the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 55.91.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, May 2, for Day Two of the 2025 Middle Atlantic Conference Track and Field Outdoor Championships.
