GRANTHAM, Pa. – On Tuesday evening, the fifteenth-ranked Messiah University men's soccer team used a dominate overall effort to defeat the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University, 6-1. After controlling possession for the first 23 minutes, the Falcons got on the board with a goal from
Owen Resch in the 24th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later,
Elijah Perry scored a goal from Resch to push the Falcons lead to 2-0. The Falcons added another goal in the 34th minute, with Resch scoring his second of the game to extend the Falcons lead to 3-0 at the break. The Falcons opened the second half with a pair of
Kyle Spodnik goals to extend the Falcons lead to 5-0 in the 58th minute. Each team scored a goal in the final 32 minutes to give the Falcons the 6-1 win.

First Half
The Falcons opened the game on the attack with a shot on goal from
Elijah Perry,
Owen Resch, and
Grant Shreiner in the first nine minutes, but each shot was saved to keep the game scoreless early. The Falcons continued to pressure the Golden Wolves and looked to break the tie in the 24th minute. After a turnover by the Golden Wolves in the midfield,
Grant Shreiner sent a pass just past the midfield line to
Owen Resch. Resch dribbled towards the top of the box and sent a shot into the bottom-right corner to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. The Falcons continued on the attack just two minutes later. Shreiner sent a long pass forward towards the left corner to Resch. Resch beat his man and sent a pass to the top of the box.
Elijah Perry sent a one-timer off the pass into the bottom-right corner to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. In the 34th minute, Resch scored his second goal of the game to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead at the break.
Second Half
The Falcons continued on the attack to start the second half with back-to-back goals from
Kyle Spodnik to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead in the 58th minute. In the 68th minute, the Golden Wolves got on the board with a goal to cut the Falcons lead to four. The Falcons added one more tally in the 79th minute with a goal from
Chase England by
Cam Holiday to give the Falcons the 6-1 win.
