YORK, Pa. – The Messiah Men's Wrestling team traveled to York College on Friday night for a dual against the Spartans. The Falcons took the 32-10 team victory in the dual, tallying three technical falls from
Levi Snyder (149 lbs.),
Keegan Demarest (165 lbs.), and
Austin Brass (184 lbs.).
The Falcons return to the mats on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they host The College of New Jersey at 1:00 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium for senior day.
Action on the Mats
Micah Lozano dropped his bout at 125 lbs. against Jacob DelVeccho via 6-2 decision before
Caiden Heller faced Vincent Paolucci at 133 lbs. and dropped the bout via 14-0 major decision as the Spartans took a 7-0 lead.
At 141 lbs.,
Jacob Cunningham earned a first-period takedown against Jacob Grzybek before taking a 6-2 lead after the second period. A pair of takedowns in the third gave Cunningham the 12-3 major decision.
At 149 lbs.,
Levi Snyder picked up the Falcons first technical fall, defeating David Vacca 17-2 in 4:08. Snyder took a 10-1 lead in the first with a pair of takedowns and four nearfall points. He added an escape and pair of takedowns in the second to earn the technical fall and give Messiah the 9-7 team lead.
After holding a 3-0 lead through two periods at 157 lbs.,
Dalton Monger earned an escape, takedown, and riding time point against Frank Gulli to earn an 8-0 major decision, extending the Falcons team lead to 13-7.
Keegan Demarest earned the second Messiah technical fall of the night with a 21-6 technical fall at 165 lbs. over Mason Skinner in 0:54.
Zach Needles earned the win via forfeit at 174 lbs., giving Messiah the 24-7 team lead.
At 184 lbs.,
Austin Brass earned a first-period technical fall over Devon O'Dell. Brass secured three takedowns and eight nearfall points to earn the 17-2 technical fall in 2:00, securing the team win as Messiah took a 29-7 win.
Tucker Seidel faced No. 2 Josh Stahl at 197 lbs. with the pair remaining scoreless through the first period. Stahl earned an escape in the second before adding a takedown, penalty point, and riding time point to earn the 6-0 decision, bringing the team score to 29-10 in favor of the Falcons.
At 285 lbs.,
Kaleb Britting and David Pierson were scoreless through two before Britting earned a takedown. A riding time point for Pierson was not enough as Britting earned the 3-1 decision and Messiah earned the 32-10 team victory.
