Johnson earns the distinction of "farthest to travel to Messiah" in the 2016 recruiting class, as he is a Georgia resident. His high school career was extremely successful as he became a four-time state qualifier. Johnson placed, in order, fourth, third, sixth, and third in his four trips to the state tournament.
