Matt Logan enters his second season as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field programs at Messiah University in 2022-23. His role on staff will consist of coaching the shot put, discus, hammer/weight and javelin throws.
Prior to Messiah, Logan coached at nearby Gettysburg College for three years. In his time with the Bullets, he guided his student-athletes to 22 top-10 finishes at the Indoor and Outdoor Centennial Conference Championship. His throwers also posted 11 marks that made the men’s and women’s top-10 performance list in their respective events. Additionally, he coached many “multi” athletes to throw for personal records, leading to three top-10 program performances and a Centennial Conference champion.
Since 2017, Logan has been on the sidelines coaching football at Cedar Cliff High School (Camp Hill, Pa.), where he coaches the offensive line. In his time there, he has coached teams to three PIAA District III 5A playoff appearances, including one appearance in the district championship and two district semi-final appearances.
As a student-athlete, Logan competed collegiately at Geneva College, where he threw shot put and discus for the Golden Tornadoes. A three-year captain, he notched six Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships top-10 finishes in shot put and discus. He was a four-time National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) national qualifier, twice in both indoor and outdoor track, where he claimed eighth place in the shot put during his senior campaign.
A native of Myerstown, Pa., Logan graduated from Geneva College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Business. He also earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education, Concentration in College Athletics Leadership from Messiah University in 2017. Along with his coaching duties, Logan works as a Graphic Designer for Messiah.
