Domineak Commodore

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Domineak Commodore Sr. is entering his sixth year as an assistant coach for Messiah College wrestling in 2015-16. A Harrisburg native, Commodore earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Messiah College in 2010 and joined the coaching staff after his graduation.

While at Messiah, Commodore was a three year starter for the Falcons and was an All-Empire Conference wrestler his junior year, when he placed third at the conference tournament for the 133 lb. weight class.

Since joining the bench in 2010, Commodore has seen arguably the greatest period of success in program history. In addition to helping Messiah earn multiple All-Americans for a fourth-straight season in 2015, Commodore received Mideast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year and NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2014.

Commodore is very enthusiastic and energetic on the Falcons sideline during matches and in practice because he believes, “energy brings out the best in wrestlers.”

Commodore attributes much of his coaching success to his relationship with head coach Bryan Brunk. During his time as an athlete at Messiah, Commodore bought into the “Bryan Brunk System,” which has allowed the coaches to be on the same page while manning the sidelines together.

When it comes to coaching philosophy, Commodore says his is simple: “Spend time with the wrestlers inside and outside the room. Help improve their skills by watching film, or just be there for them in tough times because if you build a relationship and get close with them, they'll go the extra mile to be great for you.”

Currently Commodore lives in Harrisburg, Pa with his wife Tina and their son Domineak, Jr.
