Messiah University

Sawyer is in his first year as a part time strength coach for Messiah University. Dereszynski, a 2025 Messiah alum, works full time for Focused Physical Development, a strength and conditioning facility for high school/college athletes out of Mechanicsburg, PA.

 

Sawyer is passionate about developing character through physical training and discipline. He believes that faith and relationship with Jesus can be developed in many ways, and the weight room is another way to do that in young student athletes. "Being able to provide athletes with a structure and a plan to follow to take away from the stress of their academics and athletics is huge for them. Taking that piece off their plates allows them more time to focus on more important things like spending time with God, relationships and academics."

 

Sawyer has been involved in strength training throughout his college career at various private sector locations. During his time at Messiah, Sawyer was a member of the wrestling team and was an NCAA Qualifier his senior year. He assisted the team in their strength training protocols, and is now stepping into the roll as an official coach for the wrestling team.
