Fulton Wins Shot Put, Breaks Messiah College Record At Dickinson

Carlisle, PA— The Falcons started off their 2011-12 Indoor Track & Field season on Saturday with a strong showing at the Dickinson Holiday Invitational.

Both the men and women earned second-place team finishes behind dominating performances by the host Red Devils. The men collected 119.50 points while the women tied Lebanon Valley with 86 points for the second-place finish.

Among the many personal records set on the day, freshman Fred Fulton broke the 12-year school record in the shot put with a throw of 48' 8-3/4" to win the event. The previous Messiah record was held by David Hamilton, who threw 46' 3-1/4" in 1999.

Other event winners on the day were senior Zach Hoagland in the 5000m, junior Tiffany Mills in the 600m, freshman Eric Witmer in the 600m, freshman Drew Engle in the pole vault, and the men's 4x400m team of Engle, Witmer, freshman Steve Nase, and junior Aaron Reynolds.

The Falcons will have plenty of time to rest before their next meet, with attention also being given to first-semester finals at Messiah College this week. Messiah will travel to Collegeville, Pa., on January 20, 2012, for the annual Collegeville Indoor Classic.
