Box Score

Grantham, PA – Messiah College scored seven goals to shutout Albright College on Saturday night, completing their conference regular-season with a perfect 9-0 record. The win marked the ninth time this season that the Falcons scored at least four goals in a game, and fourth time scoring at least six goals. With the win, Messiah completes the regular-season with a record of 17-0-1.

Sophomore Jeremy Payne scored twice for Messiah, with his first goal of the night coming in the 15th minute to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Junior Joshua Wood assisted on the play—his seventh assist on the season—as Payne received possession in the middle of the field and fired a shot from 25 yards out to the right side of the goal.

Payne would score his team-leading 14th goal of the season just under ten minutes later, but not before sophomore Mike Kovach put Messiah up 2-0 exactly 23 minutes into the game. His strike from the right side of the penalty box followed up a post-ringing shot from the left side by junior Josh Kremers

Messiah's offensive firepower would continue in the first half, as freshman Benji Kennel would score twice before intermission to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead. Kennel's two scores were his third and fourth of the season.

Brothers Sheldon Myer and Bryant Myer—a junior and freshman, respectively—would each score a goal in the second half to complete the scoring for the home team. It marked the second time this season that the brothers each scored in a same game (Oct. 9 vs. Hood College).

In their final conference game of the regular-season, the Falcons surely dominated. They took 33 shots (16 on goal) against just three for the Lions. Messiah also attempted 13 corner kicks, while Albright did not manage one attempt. Jake Berry collected the lone save for the Falcons' keepers.

Ranked No. 1 in the most recent NSCAA Top 25 Poll, the Falcons will now look to defend their five-straight Commonwealth Conference Championships when they host the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 1.
