Box Score
St. David's, PA – For the second time in three seasons, the Messiah College Falcons dropped a tough decision on the road, this time to long-time rival Eastern University by a score a 1-0.
Unfortunately, the Falcons found themselves on the wrong end of a quick strike from the host Eagles, falling in a 1-0 hole just 2:21 into the contest. The Eagles' Kelby Bolton sent a hard slapper towards the Falcons' net that teammate Brittany Moyer deflected in for her fifth goal on the season.
A flurry of chances from the hosts in the second half of the contest just wasn't enough to force an extra stanza, as the remaining 67:39 of the contest remained scoreless. The Eagles' Kylie Jones picked up five saves in the win, while junior
Molly Gebrosky stopped six shots.
Perhaps Messiah's best opportunity came with 13:34 remaining, when junior
Brooke Sands sent a blistering shot toward the net off a corner that Boldon staved off with a blocker.
The Falcons dropped their third decision on the season and second in three games, occurring over a span of seven days. The Falcons' offense seems to be sputtering of late, scoring just two goals in three games, including two shutouts.
Messiah looks to regroup Saturday October 6 as they welcome Commonwealth newcomer Stevenson University to Anderson Field. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
