Grantham, PA - The threat of isolated thunderstorms did not scare the Messiah College men's tennis team as they shutdown the Knights of Arcadia University. Every match was won by the Falcons as they took the match 9-0 and only gave up 19 games throughout all nine matches. With the win the team stays alive in the Commonwealth Conference playoff hunt.

The top doubles team of Andrew Wismer and Michael Brookhart completely controlled their match winning 8-1 in the pro set.

Zachary Brunner and Peter Shuck got an early lead and then unforced errors kept Arcadia's number two doubles team in the match. Brunner and Shuck regrouped and rode Brunner's hard hitting serve and Shuck's consistent groundstrokes to an 8-4 win.

At the number three doubles spot, David Wichert and Chris Brittingham rolled through Arcadia's third team 8-1.

Singles play began and none of the Falcons surrender more than three games in any set.

Michael Brookhart continued his impressive freshman year by claiming a victory at number one singles, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.

The number two singles match was a long and grueling match between Andrew Wismer and the Knights Jeremy Garcia. Wismer moved Garcia around the court and never allowed Garcia to gain any momentum. Wismer also won in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

Wichert used his strong serve and aggresive forehand to win 6-3, 6-0.

Another excellent freshman, Peter Shuck, won in dominating fashion. Shuck only gave up one total game in both sets combined, winning 6-0, 6-1.

Brunner was almost unstoppable today at number five singles. He dominated his match with his laser fast serve. Brunner picked up another easy victory for Messiah winning 6-1, 6-2.

In the final singles match, Chris Brittingham followed all his teammates and won in straight sets. He took his match 6-2, 6-0.

With the win Messiah moves to 5-7 on the season and 2-2 in the conference.

The Falcons next match is on Wednesday, April 25th at 3:00 p.m. at Lycoming College.
