Shepherdstown, WV - The Messiah College women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season this Saturday, winning all but two of nine matches against the Rams of Shepherd University. The men did not fare as well, dropping all of their matches to the Rams to even their team record at 1-1.
Despite dropping the No. 1 Singles match to the Rams, the Messiah women convincingly won the remaining five singles matches. In these matchups, Messiah's 
Jennifer Kitlan, 
Michelle Curtis, 
Molly Brubaker, 
Eileen Barker, and 
Elizabeth VanDe Bunte held their singles' opponents to three or fewer sets to win their matches.
Messiah also took all three women's doubles matches and defeated Shepherdstown University winning the overall match 7-2.
The Shepherdstown University's men had a strong showing sweeping the Messiah men 9-0 for the overall match. In singles play, the Rams held all Messiah opponents to three or fewer sets.
In men's double play, Messiah's Zach Brunner and Chris Brittingham tested the Ram's Michael Lesko and Steve Kolumban, but fell short dropping the match 8-4.
The Falcons will next host the Spartans of York College on Tuesday, September 18, at 3:30 pm.
