Box Score

Salisbury, MD - The last time that the Falcons played the Sea Gulls was 2006, in which the Falcons got the better of the Sea Gulls 4-0 in Maryland.

The Falcons headed back to Salisbury 6 years later looking for a repeat performance.

For the duration of the first half the two teams battled back and forth, neither team allowing the other to get the upper hand. Sophomore keeper Michelle Conrad was forced to make three saves to keep her Sea Gulls from getting behind.

The Falcons' offense was at work in the first half sending 12 shots and eight corner kicks towards Conrad. However, the Sea Gulls' net was undisturbed throughout the first half.

One shot was recorded for the Sea Gulls in the first half but it was not enough to test freshman goalkeeper Audra Larson.

Heading into half time the score was level at zero.

The second half started out similar to the first with the two teams fighting for possession.  It was clear that the Falcons were getting chances but they needed to find a way to turn those chances into goals. In the 71st minute of the game freshman Nikki Elsaesser does just that to get one past Conrad on an unassisted goal.

To seal the game for the Falcons freshman Holly Burgard sent a cross from the right to find the head of senior Elizabeth Phillips.  The goal came in the 90th minute with only 18 seconds left and is Philips' first on the season.

The Falcons managed 26 shots total, eight of which were on frame in the win against the Sea Gulls.

The match ended without any further shots from the side of the Sea Gulls, making this a save-less game for Larson.

The next game is on Shoemaker Field, September 19, against the Eagles of Eastern University at 7:00 p.m.
