XML Box Score Grantham, PA - The Falcons put on a team effort to defeat the Blazers of Hood College tonight, 3-0, with 12 different players registering kills in Brubaker Auditorium. Additionally, 13 different Falcons collected at least one dig.

With the win, Messiah moves to 16-9 overall and continue their winning streak, which is now up to seven games. Hood College dropped to 5-18 overall and 1-7 in the Commonwealth.

The Falcons and Blazers started the match in stride with each other. Messiah did not pull out their lead until a run that started after the score was 10-9 Falcons. After that mark, the Falcons won 15 of the remaining 19 points to win the set 25-13.

Although the Falcons' kills were spread across the team,
Taylor Hook led Messiah with six, on 11 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage. Hook also collected six digs and one service ace.

The Falcons controlled the tempo in the second set and won it handily, 25-12. Hood committed 10 of their 26 total attacking errors in set No. 2.

Jessica Geib put up 14 assists in two sets, while
Brooke Gallagher added nine more in the third set. Also subbing in for the third set were classmates
Emily Zellers at libero and
Emily Buckwalter at outside hitter.

Messiah finished out the match with a 25-20 victory in the third set. The lineup changes provided tougher competition but the Falcons remained in control, staying ahead after the score was knotted at four all.

The Falcons already had a playoff berth clinched, but the remaining conference match against Elizabethtown College on Oct. 30 will determine where the team will rank. Before that happens though, Messiah will travel to Haverford College for a tri-match this Saturday, Oct. 26, against the hosts and Swarthmore College.
