10/23/2013 6:10:00 PM

XML Box Score Williamsport, PA – The Falcons' women's soccer team scored six goals in the first-half to pull away from Lycoming College in convincing fashion on Tuesday, winning 9-0. Seven different Falcons scored and six different Falcons collected an assist in the game—the most for the team in each category since a 9-0 win over York College in Sept. of 2011.*

Messiah moves to 13-2-1 overall with the win, and also 6-0 in the Commonwealth Conference.

The goals came early and often for Messiah as Corinne Wulf put the Falcons on top 1-0 in the sixth minute. She sent home a penalty kick score after Nikki Elsaesser was taken down on her attack within the right side of the box. Elsaesser would score her own goal in the 13th minute off a cross from Holly Burgard to the front of the net.

Less than three minutes later the Falcons began to take advantage of the Warriors' attempts to catch their opponent offsides. Macaulay played give-and-go with Elsaesser to set up a through ball in the middle and towards an open look on Caitlin Dougherty. Elsaesser put the shot past the keeper for a 3-0 advantage.

In the 21st minute, and in similar fashion, Alicia Frey put a pass through the Warriors' back row to Missy Biener for the first goal of her career.

Biener collected an assist of the Falcons' next score, sending a cross from the right side into the middle of the box. The ball bounced once in front of Dougherty and to the far side of the goal where Marisa Weaver scored her third goal in as many games.

Trisha Tshudy scored Messiah's sixth and final goal of the half after receiving a through ball from Carly Schaefer on the left side. Like Soto and Biener before her, the shot came in a one-on-one situation with Dougherty.

In the second-half the Falcons added three goals with Tshudy putting an unassisted shot high into the right corner in the 53rd minute. Erin Sollenberger then tallied three minutes later with another breakaway goal off a feed from Soto.

In the 88th minute Mackenzie Clapper completed the scoring with a header off a right-sided cross from Biener.

The Falcons outshot the Warriors 28-2, with 18 shots going on frame. Dougherty and Megan Maurer, who came into the game with 37 minutes left, combined for nine saves.

The loss drops Lycoming to 1-14 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Messiah will next play on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Widener University for a 5:00 p.m. game.

*In Messiah's 9-0 win over York on Sept. 21, 2011 eight different players scored while seven different players collected an assist.
