XML Box Score 2 Grantham, PA – In their final home matches of the regular season, Messiah College defeated the Lancaster Bible College Chargers and Wilkes University Colonels with 3-0 scores.

Messiah held Lancaster Bible to just 16 kills, while collecting 41 of their own in the 3-0 victory.
Jane Underman led the attacking with 11 kills,
Alyssa Vorbeck and
Emily Buckwalter followed behind her with six each. Jess Geib added 24 assists with
Brooke Gallagher behind her, collecting 10.

After a 9-7 lead in the first set, the Falcons started to pull away from the Chargers, going on an 11-2 run. They would later finish off the set with a 4-0 run to win 25-13.

The Falcons started out set No. 2 with a 7-3 deficit but quickly caught back up to their opposition and took a 17-11 lead. The Chargers attempted a comeback of their own with a 5-1 run, but it wasn't enough to subdue the Falcons. Messiah went on to win the second set 25-20.

Leading the defensive effort was
Allison Hill with 19 digs, followed by
Natasha Gibble with 15.

A couple lineup changes by Messiah proved successful for set No. 3, with Gallagher in the setting position and Buckwalter hitting from the outside. The Falcons improved their overall record to 18-11 with the 25-13 final-set win.

Later in the afternoon, the Falcons faced off with Freedom Conference opponent, Wilkes.
Alyssa Vorbeck and
Jane Underman led the team in kills, each with 10. Along with those kills, each player showed an impressive hitting percentage; Vorbeck with .588 and Underman with .467.

The first set showed close, back-and-forth action, but the Falcons' hitting was too much for the Colonels and won 25-19. Messiah collected no less than 16 kills in each of the three sets, while Wilkes had 15 kills for the match.

The Colonels rotated players through setter position in sets two and three, but could not match the pressure put on by the Falcons. Messiah went on to win the sets 25-9 and 25-15, holding the Colonels to six total kills.

Jessica Geib collected 37 more assists, while
Allison Hill added 20 more digs in a day when they were both recognized on senior day.
Jordyn Scheib was the other senior recognized and had six kills in the match.

Messiah's overall record improved once more, to 19-11, while Wilkes fell to 18-12 overall. Lancaster Bible defeated Wilkes in their neutral match 3-0 in between Messiah's matches.

The Falcons will start Commonwealth playoffs next, with a semifinal game at Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7:00 p.m.
