XML Box Score Takoma Park, MD - Messiah defeated the Shock of Washington Adventist University Saturday night, 75-53, led by Gillian Glackin's 16 points and lifting their overall record to 3-1 this season.

The Falcons were able to secure the win, in large part, thanks to 27 points (75%) from the free throw line as a team. Chelsea Danel followed Glackin with 14 points in the game, going 4-5 from beyond the arc. Taylor Miller was just behind her classmate with 13 points, hitting seven free throws on nine attempts.

Glackin's 16 points is a career high, along with her 11 rebounds, while collecting the double-double. Hannah Nichols was the fourth and final Falcon in double digit points with 10.

"They were really athletic out there, and challenged us quite a bit," stated head coach Mike Miller about the Shock. "It was a really good win to get for our team, I was really impressed with the way they maintained their composure on the court."

According to coach Miller, the Falcons were able to handle the ball well against an athletic team, leading to the amount of free throw attempts they had. Washington Adventist, in opposition, made 12 of 21 shots from the free throw line.

Messiah carried a lead from the 17:35 mark in the first half through to the end and was up by as many as 27 points in the game. The Falcons led at the half by a 33-19 score.

As a team, the Falcons shot 37.7% from the field and 53.3% from three-point range.

"We played a much different syle of basketball against this team," said coach Miller. "I was happy to see how well they adapted to that and come away with the win."

The result improves the Falcons' record to 3-1 overall, while the Shock fell to 2-4 overall. Messiah will next play a home game against Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 4:00 p.m.
