Selinsgrove, PA - The Messiah College Falcons were held without a goal through the game's first thirty minutes leading to a tough 10-4 loss at Susquehanna University on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons (2-3) received one goal apiece from
Heath Kupecky,
Kevan Schellenberg,
Ryan Mayer and
Tyler Goglio.
Drew Pagenkopf was the Falcons' top point-getter with two helpers.
Brooks Arnold, getting his second consecutive start, played well enough in goal to keep the hosts from within reach. He made nine saves against eight goals allowed in the game.
The Crusaders picked up their fifth win in six games to improve to 6-3 on the season. Austen Lein led all scorers with five points behind a three-goal, two-assist performance. Carmen Arohra added two goals for Susquehanna.
The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead against the Falcons and rode a stingy defense to a 6-0 halftime lead. Susquehanna would add two tallies early in the third quarter to open up an eight goal lead before
Heath Kupecky finally found the back of the net to make it 8-1.
Over the final 15 minutes the Falcons would add three more tallies but couldn't get any closer than the game's final score of 10-4.
The Falcons will stay on the road this Saturday (3/23) as they open up their conference schedule against Widener University in Chester, Pa. Gametime is set for 1:00 p.m.
