Elizabethtown, PA - Jon Heisey and Ben Sollenberger each collected three RBI to back a strong seven innings from pitcher Jon Lapp as Messiah defeated Elizabethtown 9-4 on Saturday afternoon.

Sollenberger knocked a two-run single in the first inning to help Messiah to an early 3-0 lead, with Heisey lining his own two-run base hit in the fourth inning.

Lapp finished all seven innings for the complete game and allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. He struck out five batters.

The win was the Falcons' second-straight victory over the Blue Jays as they defeated Elizabethtown on Friday afternoon.

Game Two

The second contest of the afternoon between the Falcons and Blue Jays saw a much tighter battle with each team countering offensive output.

Paul Mellinger struck first for the Falcons with an RBI double to left, which would score Jacob Sprengle for the game's first run. Sollenberger continued to stay hot for Messiah as he drove Mellinger home via an RBI single, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

The Blue Jays would capitalize on a third inning error from the Falcons' infield to draw even at two. Kyle Gable scored Etown's first run of the game courtesy of a Dillon Tagle sacrifice fly to left field. Tyler Weary scored (unearned) after a throwing error committed by Evan Young to tie the game at two.

The Blue Jays grabbed their first lead of the day when Gable hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth scoring Luke Gatti.

The Falcons responded in the next inning scoring an unearned run. Lapp grounded into a double play but Brubaker was on third and managed to make it home to once again tie the ball game.

In the seventh inning of game two with the score tied 3-3, the Blue Jays' Kyle Gabe scored the game-winning run on an infield single to send Etown to a walk-off win over Messiah. Gabe reached with one out and soon went to second on a balk by pitcher Adam Marshall.

With Gabe now on second, Messiah decided to intentionally walk Tyler Weary. With the intentional pitches being thrown, Gabe alertly stole third base and then came home on the ensuing infield single by Aaron Rahn.

The Saturday split leaves Messiah at an even 7-7 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Falcons are on the diamond Tuesday, April 16, for a single game against conference opponent Albright College. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
