High-Scoring Affair Goes to #4 Stevenson

Grantham, PA - The Messiah College men's lacrosse team dropped a 21-4 decision to #4 Stevenson University Wednesday evening under the lights.  The Mustangs (13-2, 6-0) posted 13 goals and held the Falcons scoreless through the first 30 minutes of play. 

Messiah (4-7, 2-3) tallied two goals in both the third and fourth periods starting with Tyler Goglio's 11th goal of the season with 11:03 remaining in the third quarter.  Ryan Mayer, Will Franken, and Chris Bry also found the back of the net for the Falcons.

The trio of the Falcons' netminders-- Jon Weimer, Brooks Arnold, and T.J. Cole-- combined for 14 saves, but the senior, Weimer, absorbed the loss. Arnold collected 10 saves against 11 allowed through 37:54 of play.

The Mustangs, who are averaging 15.3 goals per game this season as the nation's fourth-ranked team, were led offensively by midfielder Peter Green's four goals. Chris Dashiell, Mark Pennenton, Matt Tompkins, and Tyler Reid backed-up Green's four-point effort with three points each. In all, 16 Mustangs players recorded points in the contest.

The Falcons will look to stay alive in the Commonwealth playoff picture as they travel to face Lebanon Valley College on Saturday. Gametime is scheduled for 1 p.m.
