Frederick, MD - Hood College managed just one victory in each the singles and doubles matches with Messiah College on Wednesday, with the Falcons earning a 7-2 decision to move to 3-1 in the Commonwealth Conference.
Molley Brubaker took the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 7-5 over Olivia Hosch to lead five singles wins for Messiah.
Ellen Harpold won her No. 3 match 6-2, 6-4 as
Eileen Barker,
Jennifer Kitlan, and
Katelyn Clark combined for three sets of 6-0. The closest set for those three Falcons was 6-3 (Clark).
Brubaker and Harpold combined for an 8-0 score over the Blazers' No. 2 doubles pair of Sandra Dziades and Mabie Tun. Kitlan and Curtin followed suit with a victory in the No. 3 doubles, 8-5 over Aubrey Fetters and Lauren Cevallos.
Messiah moves to 8-5 overall with the win, with Hood falling to 2-9 and 0-4 in the Commonwealth.
The Falcons will travel to Elizabethtown to take on the Blue Jays on Saturday, Apr. 20.
