Grantham, PA - The Blazers of Hood College were no match for the Falcons today as the men won 9-0 over their fellow Commonwealth Conference Opponents. The Blazers were not helped by the fact that they only had four players to compete with and therefore started out the match down 3-0.
The teams played two doubles matches with the third forfeited, and played four singles matches with two being forfeited by the Blazers.
In the doubles competition,
Michael Brookhart paired up with
Peter Shuck and took the match with an 8-1 score. In the other match,
David Wichert and
Zachary Brunner defeated Ray Rivera and Phil Roedig in a shutout 8-0.
On the singles side, only two games were conceded by the Falcons in all four of their matches. Two shutout victories on the day belonged to Wichert and
Derrek Hoffer, while Brookhart and Shuck both gave up a game apiece.
The win moves the Falcons to 7-3 and 4-1 in the conference in the spring season while Hood drops to 0-8 and 0-5 in conference play.
The Falcons will end their regular season this Saturday, Apr. 27, with a match against Albright College at home. That match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
