Falcons Lose Battle With Susquehanna University

Selinsgrove, PA- The Falcons lost a tough battle with the Susquehanna University Crusaders on Tuesday by a score of 3-2. It was a low scoring affair that saw the Crusaders score the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Messiah jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Casey Ebersole hit a sacrifice fly to score Zach Brubaker. After an untimely fielding error committed by Peter Fisher, the Crusaders managed to tie the game in the bottom of the first.
 
Susquehanna kept the offense cruising in the second inning as Jared Musilli hit an RBI single to left field to give the Crusaders their first lead of the afternoon.
 
The Falcons displayed resolve as they battled back in the fifth inning to knot the game at 2-2. Jacob Sprengle would bring Jon Heisey home by way of an RBI single to left field
 
Once again, the Crusaders would find a way to answer the Falcons' offense. Susquehanna would score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth after With runners on third and second, a wild pitch by Mitch McClure would allow Bryan Palsi to score the unearned game-winning run.
 
It was a short outing for starting pitcher Peter Fisher as he tended the mound for two innings, while the Falcons utilized five pitchers on the afternoon.
 
The loss moves Messiah to 14-20 on the season and it is the first victory for Susquehanna over Messiah since April,13 2007.
 
The Falcons host Widener for the final regular season home game on Friday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. The contest marks a critical battle between the Falcons and Pride as the winner of the weekend series will qualify for the Commonwealth playoffs.
