Grantham, PA - Messiah College men's tennis took all three doubles matches en route to a 5-0 shutout of Alvernia University to advance to the finals of the Commonwealth Conference Championships.

The Falcons only needed 5 matches to get the job done today as the team was really on top of their game. In the two singles matches, Peter Shuck and David Wichert only gave up one game each in their victories. The other singles games went unfinished once the five wins were in the bag. Wichert continues his unbeaten streak this year, now up to 11 matches.

The best match of the day came from the No. 1 doubles with Michael Brookhart and Luke Hostetter against Nate Bauer and Dan Minnich. The two Falcons went up 5-2 in the match but Minnich and Bauer came back to challenge for the lead. Brookhart and Hostetter were not about to let the Crusaders rain on their parade though, they finished out the match two sets up, 8-6.

"That was the best I had seen them play all year," said head coach Jon Arosell about Brookhart and Hostetter. "They came through in a big match at the right time and played very well together."

The other two doubles matches were won without trouble, David Wichert and Zachary Brunner are playing very well as of late and didn't give up a game against Kyle Clark and Jacob Conapitski.

The Falcons will next focus on the Conference Finals which take place at No. 1 Elizabethtown College this Saturday, May 4, at 3:00 p.m.
