XML Box Score Grantham, PA – Messiah College lost their fourth-straight match on Tuesday night, as they were swept by Gettysburg (25-23, 25-23, 25-18) to fall to 4-4 on the young season.
Kristen Douglas led the Falcons with 13 kills while
Jessica Geib contributed 27 assists. The Falcons set a season-low attack percentage (.101) as a team while also collecting season-low 46 points.

The Falcons fell behind midway through the first game, 17-11, only to storm back and knot the score at 22-22 a second-straight attacking error by the Bullets. Gettysburg managed to regain composure, however, to earn three of the next four points—including a game-clinching kill by Lizzy Kuhn—to win 25-23.

Though falling in the first game, Messiah was able to ride their momentum to a 9-2 lead in the second game. With Gettysburg trying to settle in, a kill by
Jane Underman made it 13-5 as it appeared Messiah was on their way to evening the match. However, unfortunately for the Falcons, Gettysburg collected eight of the next nine points, including two kills by Laura Bergin, to draw within 15-13. The teams would battle back and forth from that point, with Douglas giving Messiah a 20-17 lead off an assist from Geib. But the Bullets again fought back, scoring six-straight points to go up 23-20 en route to a 25-23 win.

Now down two games to none, Messiah fell behind early to Gettysburg in the third set and never recovered. They fell behind by as many as 12 points (19-7) and lost 25-18 in the Bullets' sweep.

Jane Underman added nine kills for the Falcons while Geib,
Taylor Hook, and Jordyn Schieb each collected four kills.
Allison Hill led Messiah with a season-high 24 digs.

Bergin led Gettysburg (7-5) with a game-high 12 kills and made just three errors on 37 attempts (.243). Lizzy Kuhn dished out 23 assists.

The Falcons will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Stevenson University on Thursday for a 7:00 start.
