Grantham, PA - After a tight first set win, the Falcons held their undefeated record against the Lycoming Warriors in a 3-0 sweep, 28-26, 25-13, 25-15. Jane Underman highlighted the win tonight with 17 kills on 40 attempts. Jessica Geib was on top of her game for this one as well, collecting 33 assists.

This match started out with tight, back-and-forth action that one would expect from two conference opponents. The warriors started to take advantage though, and capitalized on some key opportunities to take a 19-13 lead. Messiah put an end to that, though, by responding with a 7-0 run with Kristen Douglas at the service line.

That run got them back into the game but Lycoming was not going to give up either. They fought each other until the score was level at 26 points. Fortunately for the Falcons, the next two points that gave them the win were on attacking errors by the Warriors. Lycoming gave up 20 points in the match via attacking errors versus the Falcons' 15.

"We just looked a little flat in the first game," said head coach Judi Tobias after the match. "We focused on not trying to over think it, but just trying to respond and play."

'Respond and play' is exactly what the team did in game two of this match, taking it with a 12 point margin, 25-13. The Falcons were able to control the ball more and keep their serve going for multiple points in a row. Six times Messiah was able to go on a 3-0 run or better in game two.

Starting libero, Allison Hill, led the way from the defense with 16 digs in the match. Douglas was just behind her with 13 digs.

Messiah picked up right where they left off in game three, jumping out to a 12-3 lead. The Falcons kept the lead for the duration of the game and finished off the Warriors with a 25-15 score. The third game was the best of the three in terms of attack percentage for Messiah, collecting a team percentage of .345. Only one Falcon had more than two attacking errors for the match.

Messiah moves to 1-0 in the conference and 3-0 overall with the result.

The Falcons' next game will take place in Langhorne, Pa., against Cairn University this Saturday, Sept. 7.
