Falcons Fly Away From Bullets in Second-Half

Gettysburg, PA – It was level pegging between the Falcons and Bullets until the Falcons went on a three-goal outburst during a seven-minute stretch midway through the second half.

In the first-half, Mattie Berger's pass from the baseline found Carissa Gehman in front of the goal. Gehman slipped a shot passed the keeper to put the Falcons on the board in the 22nd minute.

The Bullets would even the score at 1-1, with a score just over six-minutes later. The game would be tied at the half, but the Falcons were just minutes away from putting the game out of reach.

Beginning with a penalty corner in the 48th minute, Carissa Gehman scored from the top of the circle with an assist from Karin Holvik to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.

Less then four minutes later Gehman struck again, this time with an assist from Taylor Holt. Holt put a ball toward goal, where Gehman got a stick on it deflecting it over the goalie and into the top shelf of the goal giving the Falcons a 3-1 lead. The goal was Gehman's third of the game and 17th on the season.

The Falcons would hold a two-goal advantage for just three minutes before Taylor Holt added insurance with a goal in the 55th minute. Emily Rubright had the ball in the middle of the field and gave a pass the Holt on the left side, whose one-timer found the back of the cage giving the Falcons a 4-1 lead.

The Bullets would get a goal back late, cutting the Falcon margin to 4-2 when a loose ball in front of the cage was knocked in by Mari Bigley in the 64th minute.

The Falcons would hold on by the 4-2 margin despite a number of opportunities late from the Bullets.

The win improves the Falcons to 8-4 on the season and they will next take the field Saturday, Oct. 11th at 6:00 p.m. when they travel to Lebanon Valley College to face the Dutchmen.
