Falcons Compete at Suquehana Open

Selinsgrove, PA – The Falcons had another successful weekend as the men and women competed in their final regular season meet.
 
Among the day's highlights were five solid races in the men's 400 meter dash. Alex Yoder had an excellent race, finishing first in the event with a time of 51.46 seconds. Trevor Praetsch also ran very well, winning his heat with a time of 52.41, good enough to land him in third place for the event. In addition, Luke Aumen and Braden Miller ran well, finishing eleventh and twelfth respectively (53.85, and 53.90 seconds) while Max Whitehead ran a season best of 54.31 seconds.
 
On the women's side, Liz Martin ran a good race in the 400 meter dash, finishing fifth with a time of 1:01.52. Rachel Bowser also performed well, running a season best time of 1:04.32
 
The men's team saw some good races in the 800 meter run. Jonphilip McGill ran a strong race, placing first out of all competitors with an indoor personal record of 2:00.59. Additionally, Christopher Scheib ran very well, qualifying for MAC's with a time of 2:04.32 while Andrew Ausel ran a personal best of 2:11.64.
 
In the women's 800 meter run, Emily Senning finished well, placing third with a season best of 2:24.09.
 
Four athletes also shined for the women in the one mile race. Tasha Becker ran a college best of 5:45.82 finishing tenth, while Jennifer Bove ran a lifetime personal best of 5:52.22 with a twelfth place finish. Leah Novak ran well, qualifying for MAC's with a time of 5:58.22 after recently coming off an injury. Victoria Hepp also had a good race, finishing with a time of 6:02.54
 
Messiah's men also had good performances in the one mile race, Jared Schatz finishing sixth overall with a solid time of 4:32.74. Tyler Sensing and Nathan Fleming also ran well, both racing personal bests of 4:35.85 and 4:39.67 and placing eighth and twelfth respectively. Edward Bley also ran a personal best in the mile, finishing in 4:59.46.
 
In the jumps, Kaitlyn Hostetler performed very well, landing a solid fourth place in the long jump with a season best of 5.10m (16' 8.75"). Ersikha Eugene also set a season best, jumping 5.06m (16' 7.25"and placing seventh in the event.
 
In addition to the events at Susquehanna, Messiah's Tim Moses had a good day in men's pole vault at the Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational, hosted by Cornell University.  Moses placed second overall in the event, with a jump of 4.90m (16' 0.75") tying his personal best from the DuCharme Invitational last weekend.
With their regular indoor season at a close now, the Falcons will continue their training and look forward to carrying their season performances to the MAC Championship on Mar. 1, hosted by Lehigh University.
