XML Box Score Grantham, PA – No. 6 Gettysburg College scored four goals in the first 3:11 and never looked back as they defeated the Falcons 16-6 on a chilly afternoon on Anderson Field. Messiah settled in as the game went on but they could not dig out of the early hole as they fell to 1-1 on the season. Gettysburg moved to 2-0.

Kelsey Markiewicz scored four goals on seven shots for the Bullets, and five other players each scored two goals. They outshot the Falcons just 32-23 overall but took command with a 9-1 halftime lead. Messiah's early deficit was largely due to 14 first-half turnovers and just three shots on goal.

The Falcons will look to build on their second-half effort and prepare for next week's game with Dickinson College. Messiah will host the Red Devils on Wednesday, Mar. 5 at 4:00 p.m.
