The Falcons defeated Bethany College 9-0 to start their spring break slate, and then scored nine more runs in a 9-1 win over Allegheny College.

Messiah 9, Bethany 0
The Falcons scored five runs in the top of the first and never looked back in a 9-0 win over Bethany College. Brooke Pompeo, Katie Tankred, and Amanda Jones each collected two hits and Tankred and Jones combined for five RBI.

Nicole Blantz started things off quickly with a leadoff triple to set up an RBI single by Pompeo. After a single (Courtney Allen) and walk (Becky Notte) loaded the bases Tankred and Jones each brought in a run with singles. Krista Ammon then pushed across another run with a hit by pitch and Emily Quatrale took ball four to force in the fifth run before an out was recorded.

Tankred added an RBI single in the second inning before Amanda Jones drilled a two-run homerun in the fourth inning to make it 8-0. Messiah added their final run in the fifth by way of a passed ball that allowed Tina Lehman to race in from third.

Mallory Rutledge took the win with five shutout innings. She allowed just two hits and struck out two batters.

Messiah 9, Allegheny 1
In Messiah's second game of the day they scored nine runs across the third and fourth innings to rout Allegheny. Claressa Mees pitched all five innings of the shortened game and allowed five hits and a walk against three strikeouts.

Messiah went down1-0 in the third inning after the Gators capitalized on two-straight singles to open the frame. Mees recorded three-straight groundouts to limit the damage, but the second of those outs produced the game's first run.

The Falcons responded quickly to pick up their pitcher. Brooke Pompeo led off the bottom of the third with a double to center and then stole third. She came home with the tying run on a fielder's choice by Courtney Allen. Later in the inning, Krista Ammon reached on an error that brought both Allen and Amanda Jones across the plate and Emily Quatrale then singled to chase Ammon home for a 4-1 lead.

In the fourth inning both Becky Notte and Krista Ammon blew open the game with a two-run doubles, and Tina Lehman added an RBI groundout to make it 9-1.

Pompeo finished 3-3 on the day while Notte and Ammon each had two RBI. Tina Lehman also picked up two of the team's 10 hits.

The two wins pushed Messiah to 4-2 on the season. They will play three games on Tuesday, Mar. 18 starting at 9:00 a.m. against SUNY Geneso.
