XML Box Score 2 Williamsport, PA – Messiah rode the momentum of a 17-3 game-one win against Lycoming to take game two with a 5-1 score and improve to 2-0 in the Commonwealth.

Game One
Â
Messiah opened up the scoring in the first inning against the Warriors with a double from
Becky Notte, scoring
Courtney Allen. Additionaly,
Jayme Babczak singled allowing Notte to come across the plate for a 2-0 lead.

The Falcons continued to score in the second inning when
Emily Quatrale started with a leadoff double. Quatrale then scored for a 3-0 lead and Allen walked with the bases loaded to put Messiah up 4-0. Notte hit her second double of the game with the bases still loaded, scoring three more runs.

Messiah didn't let up in the second inning—with two runners still on base,
Krista Ammon singled to right center to score both Falcons for a 9-0 lead.
Nicole Blantz then put the Falcons up by ten with a single that scored Ammon. A groundout finally stopped the bleeding for Lycoming in the second.

Lycoming got a couple of runs back in the bottom of the second with a double by Kristi Weaver that scored a run. Weaver then scored on a groundout to shortstop for the second run.

The Falcons scored six more runs in the top of the third behind a series of singles that the Warriors didn't have an answer for.

Messiah capped their scoring at 17 in the fifth inning on a single by
Amanda Jones. Lycoming could not respond in the bottom of the fifth and the game was called.

The Falcons had 21 hits in the game led by Notte who went 4-4 and batted in three runs.
Mallory Rutledge pitched three innings and struck out three batters.
Sara McKee came in to pitch the other two innings for Messiah and struck out one batter.

Game Two
Â
Messiah started game two the same way they started the first—leading 2-0 after one inning of play. Allen and Babczak had an RBI each in the first.

The Falcons kept the Warriors from scoring through the first four innings and increased their lead to 5-0 after two runs were scored in the top of the fifth.
Â
Notte singled for an RBI and then Allen scored on a fielder's choice to provide the five-run advantage.
Â
Two errors by the Falcons in the bottom of the sixth put the Warriors first run on the board in game two of the double-header. Two line-outs by Lycoming sent the game into the final inning.

Both teams played defensively throughout and the game ended the same way.
Claressa Mees got the win for Messiah, allowing three hits in the complete game.

With the two wins, Messiah improves to 7-5 overall and 2-0 to start Commonwealth Conference play. The Falcons will next travel to Gettysburg on Thursday, Mar. 27, to take on the Bullets.Â
