XML Box Score Ewing, NJ - Messiah College dropped a close 16-14 contest today at No. 7 The College of New Jersey despite Casey Daggett and Lizzy Keeney both putting away five goals. Madi Brunk assisted on six of the Falcons' 14 scores and Sarah Dolan made 12 saves for Messiah.

Daggett started out the scoring for either team with a goal in the second minute of the game. Brunk's assist on the goal started her run after picking up a ground ball from her own saved shot. The save was Catherine Killian's only stop in the game.

Messiah took their biggest lead of the game later on in the half when they went up 9-4 following a pair of goals by Daggett in a span of just seven seconds.

Daggett scored all five of her goals in the first half with her fifth putting the Falcons ahead 10-5 with 3:15 left to play in the half. Brunk and Daggett connected for four goals in the first 30 minutes. Kelly Schlupp was tabbed as net-minder for the Lions after Messiah's 10th goal.

The Lions all but erased the five-goal lead in the next 1:15, netting three goals by three different players.

The score stayed at 10-8 for the remainder of the half with Daggett's final shot missing the mark. In the half, Dolan made nine of her 12 saves.

Just 16 seconds into the next half, TCNJ brought the score to 10-9 by one of Kendal Borup's seven goals in the match.

Carly Bajus and Lizzy Keeney kept the Falcons up by three with a pair of goals before five minutes passed in the second half. Keeney's five total goals came on five total shots for a perfect shot percentage. The senior also led the team with three draw controls.

With 12 minutes left to go in the half, TCNJ completed the comeback by tying the game at 13 apiece. Keeney kept the Falcons on top with the next goal three minutes later but it was the last of the day for Messiah.

The Falcons only got one shot off in the final nine minutes of the contest, which was saved by Schlupp—one of her three after subbing in during the first half.

A major factor in the result for the Falcons was the difference in free position shots. TCNJ was seven for nine in the game while Messiah was not awarded one free position attempt.

The loss drops the Falcons to 1-3 overall this season while TCNJ improves to 2-0. Messiah will next travel to York College on Mar. 12 before heading down to Florida for two spring break games.
