ResultsGrantham, PA - Messiah College broke a losing streak with their rivals today and took down Elizabethtown College for the first time since 2008 with a score of 7-2. The Falcons battled through some tough doubles matches to start the day and the Blue Jays came out with the upper hand 2-1.

Michael Brookhart and
David Wichert were the only Falcons to win in doubles play, defeating Cole Turula and Ryan Caris 8-2.
Messiah then won four solid singles matches to clinch the overall win and finished off the last two in three sets. No. 1

Devin Esch, and No. 5 Chris Brittingham each picked up a two set wins. Brookhart overtook Cole Turula 6-3, 7-5, while Esch beat Alex Machalick 6-1, 6-1 and Brittingham was victorious over Matthew Hornbaker 6-2, 6-4.
No. 2
David Wichert dropped the first set 2-6 to Michael Cannon, then equalized things by winning the second set tie break 7-6 (7-5). He went on to take the third set 6-3. Other close singles matches came at the No. 3 and No. 6. In both scenarios, the Falcons won the first set with ease then dropped the second set but rallied in the third to win. No. 3
Peter Shuck got the upperhand against Ryan Caris 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, while No. 6
Dustin Innerst defeated Joe Kirchner 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
The Falcons stay perfect in the Commonwealth (4-0) with the win, while Elizabethtown dropped to 2-2 in the conference.
Messiah will return to action next Monday, April 21st when they host Alvernia University. The Commonwealth Conference match will begin at 2 p.m.
