Falcons Dominate Blazers, Stay Near Top of C'Wealth

XML Box Score Fredericksburg, MD – Messiah College moved to 4-1 in the Commonwealth with a dominating 19-0 win over Hood College on Tuesday. The Falcons also improved to 8-6 on the season.
 
Lizzy Keeney led the Falcons' onslaught with six goals and three assists. It was her fourth time this season—and second-straight game—with at least nine points, and she also collected nine draw controls for the third time in 2014. Four of her goals came in the first period when Messiah was building a 12-0 lead.
 
Messiah scored another seven goals in the second period to finish with their largest margin of victory since they defeated Lycoming College on Apr. 27, 2011 by the score of 20-1. It is their largest shutout win since Mar. 30, 2004 when they defeated Wilkes University 20-0.*
 
Shayna Delaney (four), Carly Bajus (three), and Claire Stikeleather (two) each tallied multiple times and four other players also scored. As a team the Falcons also dominated in shots (36-2) and groundballs (33-15). Both totals were also season-highs.

Sarah Dolan and Ellery Klineyoung split time in the cage, with Klineyoung collecting the first two saves of her young career.
 
Now 4-1 in the Commonwealth, the Falcons will have a week off before hosting Stevenson University on Tuesday, Apr. 22. The Mustangs are currently 5-0 in the conference with Lebanon Valley (5-1) and Messiah close behind.

*Tuesday was the fourth time Messiah won a shutout by a 19-0 score: Arcadia on Apr. 6, 2011; Wilkes on Mar. 11, 2011; Moravian on Apr. 23, 2005.
