XML Box Score Grantham, PA – Stevenson University took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added runs late to blank the Falcons 4-0. Greg Myers struck out 12 batters in a complete game shutout and moved to 4-3 on the season.
The Mustangs scored their first run after loading the bases with no one out in the first inning. Steven Ridings recovered and induced a 6-4-3 double play but a run scored on the play. He settled down even further after that and retired 12-straight batters at one point.
But Greg Myers was even sharper. The right-hander did not allow a runner to third base until the ninth inning and walked just three batters against his 12 strikeouts.
The Mustangs scored single runs in the sixth (two out RBI single), eighth (wild pitch), and ninth (fielder's choice RBI groundout); John Griffitts relieved Ridings in the ninth and worked out of a bases-loaded, zero out situation to allow just the single run.
Messiah fell to 12-12 with the loss and 10-6 in the Commonwealth. Stevenson improved to 11-18 and 6-10 in the conference.
The Falcons will next play at Stevenson on Monday, Apr. 21 in a double-header set to start at 12:00 p.m.
