XML Box Score Grantham, PA - Messiah College displayed dominance on the field today against the Warriors in the 17-5 win on Anderson Field thanks to seven points from
Madi Brunk and six from
Lizzy Keeney. Brunk finished with two goals and five assists, while Keeney added five goals and one assist.
Marybeth Bindel and
Claire Stikeleather were also effective in the game with three goals and an assist each.
Sarah Dolan played the first half between the pipes for the Falcons and saved two shots without letting in a goal.
Messiah set the tone for the game early on with four goals scored in the first 2:23 of the game. The Falcons doubled their total before ten minutes were gone in the first half. It wasn't until after this point that the Warriors got their first shot in the game.
The Falcons went up 11-0 with 8:36 left in the first half with a goal by
Amanda Wivell, assisted by Keeney. When Messiah got the ball back with 5:30 to play they held it until the first half horn sounded.
Lycoming scored quickly into the start of the second half but Messiah matched them just as quickly. All throughout the second half, Messiah responded to the goals that the Warriors put away with goals of their own. The Falcons' other goals in the game were scored by
Casey Daggett,
Courtney Farlling,
Jenna Stover, and
Shayna Delaney.
The Warriors' goals came from leading scorer Casey Maguire (3), Leanne Shaw (1), and Amber Graybill (1). Shaw converted on one of the Warriors' two free position attempts.
All-in-all, Messiah converted on 17 of 25 shots and held Lycoming to seven shots. The Falcons won 18 of the draw controls and picked up 17 ground balls.
The Falcons improve to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference with the win and the Warriors fall to 4-7 and 0-3 on the year.
