Reading, PA - The Messiah women's tennis team put up a terrific fight Saturday, but were unable to overtake the Commonwealth Conference leaders, Albright College (9-3, 2-0). The Falcons (3-5, 1-1) won three of their six singles matches, but couldn't get past the Lions in doubles play, losing 5-4.

No. 2 Ashli Livermore (6-0, 6-1), No. 4 Eileen Barker (7-5, 6-2), and No. 6 Sydney Schandel (8-4) prevailed in singles play, while No. 1 Erin Ipsen (6-0, 6-0), No. 3 Jennifer Kitlan (6-2, 4-6, 6-2), and No. 5 Michelle Curtis (6-2, 6-0) were on the losing end of their match ups.

In doubles play, No. 2 Ashli Livermore and Jennifer Kitlan brought home the lone victory over Melissa Carberry and Christina Peacock 8-1.

The Falcons return to the court on Tuesday when they host Lycoming College in their first home match of the season. The Commonwealth Conference showdown will begin at 4:00 p.m.
