Falcons Cruise Past Warriors in Shutout

Grantham, PA - Messiah College took all matches with eight shutout sets against Lycoming on Tuesday and won 9-0. The Falcons improve to 4-6 on the year with the win, while the Warriors drop to 0-6 overall. Messiah also improves to 3-0 in the Commonwealth this season.

Messiah dropped just four sets in the first doubles matches, with Michael Brookhart and David Wichert winning their match 8-0. Micheal Kovacs and Dustin Innerst won the No. 3 doubles match with an 8-1 score.

Brookhart went on to defeat Bryce Jones in his singles match 6-1, 6-0, while Wichert won the No. 2 singles match without dropping a set; 6-0, 6-0. Every Falcon won at least one of their sets with a 6-0 score, Innerst had the closest set of the day with a 6-4 win against Evan Bennetch.

Peter Shuck and Devin Esch both won their matches with a 6-2, 6-0 result.

The Falcons will next host Elizabethtown College this Saturday, Apr. 11, with a match at 2:00 p.m.
