Carissa Gehman scored two goals in the Falcons win.

Messiah pressured from the opening whistle and fired off seven shots in the first 10 minutes. At the 10:05 mark
Nicole Wilkerson put the Falcons up 1-0 by sending in a rebound from
Emily Rubright's shot into the cage.

The Falcons continued to dictate the game's pace and possession from thereafter, and soon scored again. Becky Ehly fed
Carissa Gehman inside the circle, and Gehman deked passed the keeper, fired the ball into the top of the cage, and doubled Messiah's lead.

Less than five minutes later, Gehman scored her second goal of the game.
Taylor Holt passed to an open Gehman who buried her second goal of the night.

Down 3-0, Haverford had a scoring chance of their own right before the half. Catherine Aronowitz's shot towards what appeared to be an open goal, but
Halie Derr's defensive save preserved the shutout heading into the half.

Messiah came out of the break strong earning three penalty corners, but could not produce any strong scoring opportunities.

As Messiah struggled to build their lead, the game's momentum shifted in Haverford's favor. The Fords fired seven shots towards the cage, but Messiah's defense and goalie
Carly Day stepped up to protect the shutout.

In the 54th minute, Haverford came even closer to getting on the board as they were awarded the game's first penalty stroke. Elena Veale stepped up for the stroke and sent the ball to the left side of the cage, but Day moved to her right and made the highlight save.

After the stroke the Fords continued to put pressure on Messiah's defense. However, the Falcon back line continued to prevent their opponents from finding the cage.

About three minutes after Haverford was awarded a penalty stroke, the referee signaled for a stroke in Messiah's favor.
Moriah Pfautz aimed for the upper 90 but the ball went over the cage.

With the score still at 3-0, the Fords continued their offensive assault, but Messiah's defense thwarted each and every attempt. In total, Messiah's defense successfully prevented Haverford from connecting on their nine corners and 15 shots in the second.

In the end, Messiah defeated the Fords 3-0 and improved to 4-2 on the season. They next host The College of New Jersey for 1:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 20. Â
